Shoe Lust

I've got a serious crush on Nicole Richie.  I love everything about her: her children, her style, her personality, her hair....her clothing and shoe lines.  So, I was quite enthralled with the fact that endless.com now sells her shoes!  Here are my favorite pumps, feel free to help me figure out what should go with this:

Superman

To the man who taught me right from wrong, to not sweat the small stuff and that popcorn is a meal.

early birthday

M just surprised me last night with my birthday present.  He has been wanting a PS3 for quite a while and his brother is in for a visit and convinced him to do it.  We went to get it and he surprised me with, "Get your MacBook." So, my friends of the blogosphere, my darling husband bought me my first laptop!  I am now the proud owner of the white hope that is my all-white MacBook.


And since I am seriously captivated by everything this thing can do, I give you Fun with Photo Booth 

Chicken and Waffles, veganized

I'm from the South, and have definitely had my share of the Southern staple chicken and waffles.  However, now that I'm vegan, its been quite a while since I have indulged in that classic dish. 

Lately, M and I have been getting these gardein vegan meat substitutes.  They make crispy chicken tenders, buffalo wings, beefless tips, etc.  Pair the chicken tenders with some Van's Lite Waffles, a little organic maple syrup and Earth Balance and voila!  Vegan Chicken and Waffles.

So here is the very lazy-friendly recipe:

1 package Gardein Chicken Tenders, prepared according to instructions (baked in the oven for 18-20 min)
1 box of Van's Natural Lite Waffles (6 waffles) toasted to preference
top waffles with a pat of Earth Balance vegan non-hydrogenated butter
I put the whole jug of organic maple syrup on the table, I like my waffles and my chicken smothered.

Deliciousness.

Brothers

For those of you unaware of the insane talents that are Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach, otherwise known as The Black Keys, let me introduce you.  They are from Akron, Ohio, not terribly far from where I was raised in Northern Kentucky.  Their music is a fantastically tight mix of Southern blues and raw garage rock.  Brothers, as seen above, is their sixth album.  If you are just now getting to know them, don't feel so bad.  Better late than never, eh?  Their songs have been on commercials, HBO trailers (specifically "Lies" was for season 3 of Big Love and "I'll Be Your Man" is the opening credits song for Hung.)  Start anywhere in their catalogue, it doesn't matter, its all great. 

M thinks I'm crazy because I've got a pretty huge crush on Patrick.  What can I say?  I love me some Jewish, or at least Jewish-looking, men.     

In other news, I'm fighting off a summer cold and seriously considering picking up the new Revlon Grow Luscious mascara. 

Sorry for the randomness of this post, the head fog is returning and I'm sore from the gym.  I promise a much better post tomorrow.

my inaugural post

Hello world.

My name is Sarah Taylor and this is my blog. I spent a pretty sizeable amount of time deciding whether starting a blog was even a good idea. I follow several blogs religiously, and I started to think how much I enjoy them and what I wish was out there. Maybe I didn't research enough, but I felt compelled to fill the void that was a female blogger who loves (vegan) food, fashion, film and music. Combining Tom Waits with liquid liner is not an ordinary task, but one I do everyday. I'm a vegan, so all posts you find food-related will, I warn you now, not involve cheese. My apologies in advance.
